Stage Stores Adds Security Tech from Chase Paymentech, Ingenico

Stage Stores, a department store chain based in in Houston, has beefed up its payment security with technology from Chase Paymentech and Ingenico.

Stage has implemented a point-to-point encryption system for credit card transactions, using Chase's fraud-detection software, known as Safetech.

The retailer has also begun using payment terminals from Ingenico. The terminals are used at roughly 900 stores nationwide.

"Securing our customers' information is very important to us," said Steven Hunter, Stage's chief information officer, in a Jan. 11 press release, adding that the company is working to develop a "multi-layered cyber security strategy."

Chase Paymentech is a unit of JPMorgan Chase, which is based in New York. Ingenico is based in Paris.
