Toronto's mobile parking app brings PayPal as a passenger

A mobile payments app that launched last year for parking lots in Toronto is now available for all parking spots on the city's streets, with PayPal as the newest payment option.

The Green P app now works all over Toronto, enabling drivers to pay for parking through machines by linking a credit or debit card, PayPal or a bank account, Toronto parking authorities said in a Dec. 19 press release.

Consumers who download the Green P and enroll payment credentials may choose any of the supported methods to pay remotely using a four-digit code associated with each parking spot, according to the release.

“PayPal is a leading digital payments provider in Canada and we are excited to have them on board as a Green P app partner,” said Lorne Persiko, the Toronto Parking Authority's president.

The Green P app is a joint collaboration between The Toronto Parking Authority, the Toronto Police Service and Toronto Transportation Services.
