Triton Systems of Delaware Inc. has launched ATMGurus, a business that will train technicians employed by ATM independent sales organizations to repair low-cost machines manufactured by Nautilus Hyosung Inc., Tranax Technologies Inc. and Triton deployed in convenience stores, Dan Swain, ATMGurus general manager, tells ATM&Debit News, a CardLine sister publication. The three companies comprise 80% of the ATMs deployed in convenience stores, he says. ATMGurus is based at Triton's Memphis, Tenn., facility. "The training involves real-life situations, something a technician would have to problem-solve when he walks into a store," Swain says. "There are different scenarios, including hardware failures, software setups, power surges, and bringing the ATM up and live." Triton targeted the entry-level ATM market because of its years of expertise in this area, Swain says. Triton will begin offering the classes Oct. 1. Some students can sign up for more than one class. In some instances, Triton will require students to take a prerequisite. Triton decided to provide training on a variety of entry-level ATMs because ISOs purchase machines from different manufacturers, a reversal of the past practice of relying on one manufacturer, Swain says. Besides training, ATMGurus inventories new and refurbished parts for Triton, Tranax and Nautilus Hyosung ATMs and refurbished Triton ATMs. ATMGurus also employs technicians who can repair ATMs. Triton is based in Long Beach, Miss.
