Trustwave Offers 'Internet of Things' Security for Connected Networks

As more point of sale terminals include connections to the Internet and customers' mobile devices, payment companies may need to consider themselves in an "Internet of Things" environment — with all of the risks that implies.

Security vendor Trustwave is launching a new service to identify and remediate IoT-related threats and vulnerabilities. Trustwave Managed IoT Security allows organizations to test, monitor and secure the entire IoT environment, the Chicago-based company stated in a July 22 press release.

In Trustwave's 2015 Security Pressures Report, a survey of 1,016 information security professionals found that 77% had been pressured to release projects before addressing all of their security concerns.

"As everyday objects connect to the network, IT teams struggle to manage assets and attack vectors previously outside their purview," Steve Kelley, senior vice president of product and corporate marketing at Trustwave, stated in the release. At the same time, a company's management is pressured to launch each product by a specific deadline.

Trustwave's Managed IoT Security helps both parties overcome those challenges by identifying and remediating security weaknesses and detecting any potential breaches, Kelley said.

Technology manufacturers and businesses with IoT networks will be able to access the Managed IoT Security services through Trustwave's cloud-based portal, Trustkeeper.
