TSYS Approved for ATM Transaction Processing in UK

Total System Services Inc. will begin processing LINK ATM transactions throughout the United Kingdom this year.

Columbus, Ga.-based TSYS is a certified service bureau for the UK’s LINK network of more than 35 financial institutions, many of which are TSYS clients, the payment processor states in a Feb. 21 press release.

The announcement about processing LINK ATM transactions comes during what has been a busy week for TSYS, which earlier announced it was purchasing prepaid card marketer NetSpend.

The opportunity to process LINK transactions for its clients demonstrates the company’s commitment to making investments in the UK payments market, Bob Evans, managing director of Europe for TSYS, says in the release.

“Payments processing is key to our business, and now that we have access to the LINK scheme, we are able to offer our clients in the UK and Ireland a comprehensive debit solution,” Evans says.

LINK includes more than 64,000 ATMs in its network and processed more than 3 billion transactions in 2011, TSYS says.

Banks have issued more than 100 million LINK debit cards throughout the UK, TSYS says.
