Neovia Financial PLC Thursday reported a $6.7 million net loss for the first half of the year; the United Kingdom-based online-payments company reported a $1.1 million net profit for the same six-month period ended 30 June last year. Revenues totaled US$32.6 million (22.2 million euros), down 9.2% from $35.9 million. Revenue from the company's e-wallet, a stored-value product, declined 9%, to $22.3 million from $24.5 million, the company says in a statement. Neovia processes payments for online gambling sites, trade groups and other organizations. The company, formally known as Neteller PLC, blamed the revenue declines on the "difficult macro-economic environment, which has affected the group's gaming merchant base, [and] regulatory difficulties experienced by some key merchants." The group had more than 1.5 million active e-wallet customers as of 30 June, up 25% from 1.2 million a year earlier.
