U.S. Bank hires real-time payments expert Peter Gordon

U.S. Bank has hired payments veteran Peter Gordon to fill a new post as head of emerging payments product and strategy, tapping his years of experience developing real-time payments technology.

Initially Gordon will focus on maximizing the use of Zelle and The Clearing House’s RTP service throughout U.S. Bank, according to a Friday press release.

Gordon most recently was chief revenue officer at PayFi, and previously held leadership roles at Mastercard and RBS Citizens. He has worked in markets including the European Union, Brazil and India. Gordon also was the founder and general manager of FIS PayNet, an early U.S.-based global real-time payments network, the release said.

“Peter is not only a top leader in emerging payments, but his breadth of experience across banking and payments will help us create winning strategies that bring real Value to customers,” said Derek White, U.S. Bank’s chief digital officer.

Gordon reports to White and will serve on U.S. Bank’s digital leadership team in the bank’s Boston office, the release said.
