Visa Adds Five Merchants to Business Card Savings Program

Visa Inc. earlier this month announced five more merchants have joined its SavingsEdge program, which offering savings to Visa small-business credit and debit cardholders, bringing to 12 the total number of merchants participating.

SavingsEdge, launched in 2008, provides automatic savings that appear on cardholders’ monthly statements; participating issuers’ cardholders must enroll to participate. Savings range from 5% to 15% on various products and services. 

The newest participants include Staples Inc., Orbitz Worldwide Inc., Gannett Co. Inc.’s USA Today, La Quinta Management LLC’s Inn & Suites, and Box.net. 

SavingsEdge closely mirrors MasterCard Worldwide’s Easy Savings small-business cardholder-savings program launched in September 2007. Some 24 participating merchants provide cardholders savings when paying with MasterCard BusinessCard credit and signature debit cards.

 Participating merchants include Microsoft Corp., Continental Airlines Inc., the U.S. Postal Service and Dunkin’ Brands Inc.’s Dunkin’ Donuts. Merchants participating in MasterCard Easy Savings offer a 5% to 20% automatic rebates on purchases.
