Visa Checkout adds event-registration firm Active Network

Visa Inc. has partnered with Dallas-based Active Network, whose customers organize activities and events, to make Visa Checkout available as a payment option at events in the U.S., Canada, Ireland and the U.K.

Beginning this summer, Visa Checkout will go live on Active Network’s online and mobile platforms supporting races, entertainment and other outdoor, sports and community events, the companies said in a May 2 press release.

Active Network, founded in 1999, provides registration and payment services for more than 36,000 organizations, driving about 100 million transactions annually, the companies said.

The multi-year deal includes cross-promotional marketing of Visa Checkout on Active’s platform and Visa’s support of Active at other venues, according to the release.

“This unique relationship between Active and Visa is not only mutually beneficial for our two companies, it’s a win for…consumers seeking both convenience and security when registering for activities and events,” said Greg Ingino, Active Network’s chief information officer.
