Visa's online payment service, Visa Checkout, has added 33 more merchants and won the support of new issuers in China and the United Arab Emirates.
Visa Checkout has signed on major retailers such as Best Buy, Barnes & Noble and LivingSocial, Visa announced Aug. 24 Altogether, now nearly 250,000 merchants and 330 financial institutions worldwide offer the service, and consumer Visa Checkout enrollment has grown by an average of 30% each month in June and July, Visa said.
Additionally, 10 credit card issuers in China and the UAE have enabled Visa Checkout. The list of banks in China includes China Merchants Bank, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, China Everbright Bank, Bank of Guangzhou and China Minsheng Banking Corp. Participating issuers in UAE are Mashreq, Emirates NBD, Majid Al Futtaim Finance, Dubai Islamic Bank and Emirates Islamic Bank.
China Merchants Bank and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank will also be the first issuers to launch Visa Checkout's mobile inline provisioning for their own banking apps, making enrollment in the program easier.
