Worldpay, Ingenico Extend Partnership to Grab U.K. Omnichannel Share

Ingenico and Worldpay have renewed their partnership in Britain, affirming Ingenico’s role as Worldpay UK’s preferred supplier of payment terminals until 2020, a move that creates stability as both companies address merchant needs for in-store digital technology.

The decision to extend their relationship comes as both companies plan to expand products and services in the region, the companies said in an Aug. 31 press release.

Paris-based Ingenico this year is broadening its product portfolio to serve an “increasingly complex market,” said Ian Benn, managing director of Ingenico Northern Europe, in the release.

Worldpay, a London-based payments provider and online gateway, added that the continuation of its partnership with Ingenico is key to its strategy of providing merchants with payments support through all channels. Worldpay recently rolled out support for WiFi terminals, enabling clerks to conduct transactions anywhere within a store.

“Worldpay’s aim is to help our customers grow by offering them reliable and secure ways to accept payments in stores, online and through mobile,” said Dave Hobday, managing director, Worldpay UK, in the release.

Worldpay provides payments services for merchants in 146 countries, but it’s a dominant player in the U.K., where it processes about 42% of all transactions, the company noted.
