YapStone Hires Former eBay Exec as President

Payment services provider YapStone has hired former eBay executive Bryan Murphy as its president.

The Walnut Creek, Calif.-based company chose Murphy for his experience with online marketplaces,    an area in which YapStone hopes to grow. At eBay, Murphy most recently served as vice president of North American verticals.

Murphy joined eBay in 2012 when it bought WHI Solutions, a company he co-founded and ran as chief executive. He has also served as the general manager of eBay Motors.

"Given that powering payments for online marketplaces is at the core of our growth strategy, hiring a hands-on leader with success at one of the largest marketplaces in the world gives us an extraordinary advantage,” said Tom Villante, chairman, CEO and co-founder of YapStone, in a Sept. 21 news release.
