Independent ATM provider YourCash Ltd. will target supermarkets throughout Belgium as testing sites for new ATMs as it expands an ongoing program of in-store deployments with European payments processor Equens SE, the companies announced Sept. 20.

YourCash, based in the United Kingdom, did not disclose the number of ATMs it would install in Belgium, though company Twitter messages indicate about 10 units were installed during the first three days after the announcement.

Based in the Netherlands, Equens during the pilot will acquire transactions initiated with MasterCard Worldwide’s Maestro cards, the processor stated in a press release.

“We are already processing card and payment transactions in Belgium, so this collaboration with YourCash is a logical next step,” Michel Stuijt, Equens general manager of market management, said in the release.

The program makes YourCash the only independent ATM provider to enter Belgium, where it will be introducing ATMs in locations where cardholders previously had not seen them, said Lee Middleton, YourCash director of business development.

YourCash plans to install the ATMs at supermarket chains AD Delhaize, Alvo and Intermarche, the company said.

The Belgium program follows what the companies termed “successful rollouts” in the UK and the Netherlands.

YourCash operates 6,000 ATMs in UK stores, universities, hospitals, military barracks and post offices, and has installed 720 in the Netherlands, mostly in supermarkets, the company said.
