Two More CEOs Are Retiring

NEW YORK-The Big Apple won an appeal of its HAIL Act in the New York State Court of Appeals, turning back a challenge from credit unions that lend to taxi owners and the yellow taxicab industry.

Beginning with the first U.S. credit union in 1909 to the present, credit unions have always had a strong, resilient spirit. More than 100 years later, we are now an industry serving 95 million members nationwide.

MADAWAKSA, Maine – NorState FCU said David Rossignol retired July 1, 15 years and one month to the day after being hired as president and CEO of the now $156-million credit union.

GARDINER, Maine – Phil Bergeron, who began his credit union career in 1969 while in college as a volunteer director Notre Dame FCU, and spent the 26 years as CEO of Gardiner FCU, retired June 30.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A state appeals court on Wednesday overturned a lower court’s ruling and revived a civil suit brought by Copper Basin FCU and CUMIS Insurance against Fiserv over a July 2009 computer breach that cost the Copper Hill, Tenn., credit union a loss of almost $550,000.

WASHINGTON – NAFCU called on the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on Wednesday to extend the two-day hold period on personal checks for another day, in order to better detect fraud.
