Swift to Open Asian Hub, Add 100 Employees

Swift plans to establish a new Asia Pacific corporate hub in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore and will hire more than 100 people as it continues its expansion in the region.

In Kuala Lumpur, the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication is opening a new corporate services center that will focus on IT development, qualification testing, support, finance, human resources and operational functions. Hiring will begin by the end of this year and the center will eventually house 100 employees by 2015, the organization announced Wednesday.

Swift also will increase its presence in Singapore where it already has commercial, standards and other marketing operations. As part of its expansion, Swift will increase its global marketing in Singapore over the next three years. It also will hire new employees for commercial functions in Singapore and elsewhere in the region to support its growth.

The organization has been in the Asia Pacific region for more than 30 years. Since 2005, it has added three regional offices in Asia and now has a total of eight commercial and support offices.

Swift is a member-owned cooperative through which banking organizations and financial institutions exchange messages.
