Citibank's Innovation Lab Snags Technology Honor in Singapore

The innovation arm of Citigroup (C) has snagged a technology accolade for its work on a new way of communicating with institutional clients.

Citi Innovation Lab, in collaboration with financial services marketing firm SapientNitro, has won a National Infocomm Award in Singapore for Citi Interactive Solutions, a digital display that enables bankers to interact in real-time with corporate treasurers and controllers by using gestures to move information, SapientNitro announced Monday.

The wall-mounted display lets bankers at Citi's transaction services unit correspond with customers, generate visual snapshots of portfolios, and analyze working capital scenarios instantly in a visually rich, interactive way.

"By combining creativity and technology in inventive ways, we've developed not only a solution to the complex needs of Citi's corporate clients, but an interactive storytelling platform that forms deeper connections between Citi's solution experts and their clients," Christian Oversohl, SapientNitro's senior vice president for the Asia-Pacific region, said in a news release. "We are thrilled about our ongoing relationship with Citi Innovation Lab and excited for what's next."

The companies demonstrated Citi Interactive Solutions in Singapore last year before displaying it in Hong Kong and Dublin.

Citigroup has established innovation labs in Singapore, Dublin and Lodz, Poland to speed the development of digital applications that anticipate clients' needs in areas ranging from mobile payments to identity management.
