Wells Fargo Promotes Regional Head to Run Commercial Banking

Wells Fargo has named John C. Adams head of commercial banking, replacing Perry Pelos, who was promoted in July.

In his new role, Adams will report to Pelos, who now has oversight of commercial banking, corporate banking, treasury management and institutional banking; all are part of Wells' wholesale banking group.

Adams, who will be based in San Francisco, will be responsible for more than 140 regional commercial offices in 38 states and three Canadian provinces. The group focuses on companies with yearly revenue of at least $20 million in several industries, including manufacturing and retail.

Previously, Adams was head of commercial banking for Wells' western region, including northern California, Oregon, Washington and western Canada. Adams joined Wells Fargo in 1997 and was named regional group head of commercial banking in 2003.
