GTE Financial launched a new advertising campaign focusing on the credit union’s philanthropic efforts, including more than $610,000 and 4,400 hours donated to local charities in 2018. Mt. Pleasant, Mich.-based Isabella Community Credit Union received the 2018 Large Business Community Service Award from the local chamber of commerce. The award was in recognition of the credit union’s support of COC initiatives and involvement in the community, including financial support, volunteerism and more.

CULAC donation

American Eagle Financial CU donated nearly $7,000 to the Credit Union Legislative Action Council, raising the money through employee fundraisers such as a 50-50 drawing, jeans days and more. CULAC helps credit unions advocate for the industry’s future.

A slam dunk

Mountain America Credit Union in Sandy Utah, continued its partnership with the NBA’s Utah Jazz and the “Pass it Along” program, donating $5,000 each to five local nonprofit organizations, including Children’s Service society of Utah, pictured here. MACU has given $155,000 to local charities since the Pass it Along program launched in 2013.

A helping hand for future leaders

The SECU Foundation and State Employees’ Credit Union, Raleigh, N.C., made a $500,000 grant in support of Lead for North Carolina, new pilot program from the University of North Carolina’s Chapel Hill School of Government. The grant will help provide funding for 20 first-year graduate students in the program and help place them in paid, two-year local government fellowships.

Hoosier Hills celebrates a 'Half-Century'

Hoosier Hills CU was honored by Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb (pictured at left) during a March 21 event at the Indiana Statehouse. CEO George McNichols and Board Chair Jennie Edwards were presented with the Governor’s Half-Century Business Award in recognition of HHCU’s longevity and service to the community, employees and the state at large. More than 60 other organizations were also recognized.
