Clearview FCU Spins Off North Carolina Members, Branch To Piedmont Advantage

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.—The North Carolina membership of Clearview FCU voted to have their accounts and one branch in Charlotte absorbed by Piedmont Advantage CU here.

A joint statement released by the two CUs earlier this week called the move "a 'win-win' situation to provide value for the members of both credit unions."

The employees of Clearview Federal in Charlotte will be retained "to provide consistency and to continue building relationships that have been nurtured over several years," according to the statement.

Piedmont Advantage will acquire Clearview's Charlotte branch on Boyer Street, and then consolidate its existing location on Yorkmont Road into that branch by the end of February.

Clearview FCU is an $804 million-asset institution based in Moon Township, Pa. Its Charlotte branch was the only one of the credit union's offices not based in Pennsylvania.

"Our staff is excited to welcome the new members and to gain a better understanding of their unique financial needs, which will ultimately allow us to partner with members to achieve their goals and dreams," Piedmont Advantage President and CEO Judy R. Tharp said. "We are eager to show our new members how we are easy to do business with and always work to improve the financial well-being of every member we serve."

The new Piedmont Advantage members will have access to complete line of financial services from the CU, as well as access to CO-Op's Shared Branch Service Center Network, Credit Union Service Center locations and nationwide CO-OP surcharge free ATMs.

Piedmont Advantage serves more than 40,000 members with $241 million in assets. The credit union was organized in 1949 to serve Piedmont Aviation and Piedmont Airlines employees.

A new headquarters for Piedmont is scheduled to open this summer in Winston-Salem, which will serve as an anchor for a 21.5-acre business park called Piedmont Advantage Park.
