WORCESTER, Mass. - (02/06/06) -- Digital FCU said it will open twonew branches in this western Massachusetts city to join the namepresence it established last year by affixing its monicker to theformer Worcester Centrum sports arena. The $3 billion credit unionpaid $5.2 million to rename the Centrum as DCU Center and put itsname and logo throughout the building for 10 years. Despite nothaving any branches in Worcester, DCU has almost 8,000 membersliving in the city, more than any other community it serves.Members of the credit union, originally founded by since-mergedcomputer maker Digital Electronics Corp., do most of their bankingonline.
