Don't just join the credit union – join the family

Working at Landing Credit Union is more than just a job; it’s like joining a family, said Landings Credit Union’s CEO Margaret Hunnicutt.

“We can truly say we are a family and are willing to help and support our fellow co-workers during times of need and times of joy,” she said. “We support employees fighting an illness by delivering meals for the family. We are flexible with work schedules, so employees are able to attend sporting and school events for their children. We celebrate employee birthdays and work anniversaries, and we celebrate our new family additions.”

Landings was ranked No. 26 overall in the Best Credit Unions to Work For 2018 and No. 5 among CUs with assets under $200 million.

In an effort to promote unity while having fun and exercising, Landings Credit Union employees competed this year in the “Landings Winter Olympics,” explained Hunnicutt.

“Sports ranging from the biathlon on Razor scooters with Nerf guns, bobsledding on skateboards, speed skating in socks, ice dancing and hockey slap-shot,” she said. “We provide fun ways to engage employees in learning and training activities and have fun with team building activities.”

Each fiscal quarter, Hunnicutt hosts “Breakfast with the President.” On average, 10 to 12 non-management employees are invited to attend and are provided a platform to discuss what is “going right and/or wrong in their positions” and offer potential solutions to these issues, noted Hunnicutt, who added that the lines of communication are always open.

“Every member of the executive team is available to listen to concerns voiced by the employees,” she said. “We always want to know what is not working and we actively take steps to fix the issues and create efficiencies.”

Founded in 1953, Landings Credit Union supports four branches and more than 15,000 members.
