PRINCETON, N.C. – Merchant processor Heartland Payment Systems plans to hire almost 1,200 workers over the next 18 months in a major expansion of its sales team.
The company said it has already hired 101 new sales representatives and plans to hire 1,198 more.
The company ended last year with 3,055 full-time and part-time workers, about 1,750 of them in sales and marketing.
The expansion comes amid signs of major growth in card usage, with Visa reporting a 33% surge in first quarter profits and MasterCard a 24% increase in earnings last week.
