MCU Offers Gen Y Card, Advice

MCU Financial Center has introduced a program to teach its so-called Generation Y members, those between 18 and 24 years old, how to use credit, which includes a translucent credit card and one-on-one instruction on how to use it responsibly.

Instead of mailing the cards, the credit union requires the Gen Yers to pick it up at a branch and discuss with a staff member the importance of maintaining good credit and how their FICO score will effect the terms of loans and financial services.

The credit union is promoting the new card with ads in local newspapers and direct mailings.
