The Sunnyvale, Calif., security software firm Arcot Systems Inc. said Monday that it has hired David E. Kaplan as its chief financial officer.

Mr. Kaplan was previously the CFO for Dragon Media Online Inc. He also has held financial jobs at Weathernews Inc. and Home Account Network Inc.
Ram Varadarajan, Arcot's president and chief executive, said in a press release that Mr. Kaplan's "wealth of experience and expertise in handling finances and strategic direction of a variety of companies, especially technology firms, will help us bring Arcot to the next level of growth and progress."
