The Clearing House Payments Co. LLC said Wednesday that it will combine its check and check image clearing operations on Oct. 1.
Susan Long, a senior vice president at the New York company who had been in charge of electronic clearing in its SVPCO unit, will head the combined operation. She has run electronic clearing since an internal reorganization in August 2005.
Jerry Milano, who plans to retire March 31 as senior vice president of the Clearing House's paper check business, will act as an advisor during the transition. He has held the senior VP post since the Clearing House acquired the check-clearing operations of the Western Payments Alliance in December 2003.
The Clearing House said its check image exchange volume surpassed its paper check volume in April.
