First Data announced the purchase Monday but did not say how much it paid.

More than 200 banks and corporate customers in the United States and Europe use Deecal's electronic payment software, which can be linked to businesses' commercial and procurement card accounts and works with their existing accounting and invoicing applications.

The vendor was founded in 1991 and has 32 employees, all of whom are expected to join First Data.

David Yates, the president of First Data's international unit, said in a press release that commercial cards are a critical part of bank portfolios. The Deecal acquisition "positions First Data strongly to support our banking clients in Europe, the United States, and other major markets."
