IDC Hires Silva as Research Director

IDC Financial Insights in Framingham, Mass., has appointed a veteran financial services executive as research director.

Jerry Silva will be responsible for IDC's global retail banking practice, the company announced Tuesday. His research will cover topics ranging from governance in the technology shops at financial institutions to customer channels.

Silva brings with him 25 years of experience in the retail banking industry. Before joining IDC, he was the founder of PG Silva Consulting, specializing in developing and marketing technology for global financial services firms. He has also worked as the head of product strategy for global software company S1 and as research director at financial services research firm TowerGroup.

Silva has contributed views on banking technology to publications including the Wall Street Journal, the Economist and American Banker.

"We are confident that the addition of Jerry to our team will greatly help us maintain a strong pulse on global financial market activity, and the IT trends that most impact the business," group vice president Scott Lundstrom said in a statement. "He will join our stellar roster of analysts in offering our clients compelling and insightful research on the opportunities to maximize the business value of technology investments, minimize technology risk and benchmark against industry peers."
