In Brief: S&P-Indexed CD Guarantees Principal

DENVER Risk Analytics Inc., a Denver consulting firm, is offering a certificate of deposit that provides investors the returns of the Standard & Poors 500 index with a guaranteed principal.

The Index Powered CD, available at some small community banks in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Delaware, is different from other investment products in that its principal is guaranteed up to $100,000 under the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., said a press release by the firm.

The CD has a 10-year term and no fees.
