WASHINGTON President Obama has nominated J. Christopher Giancarlo to serve on the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and Karen Dynan to serve as assistant Treasury secretary for economic policy.
Giancarlo, executive vice president at the brokerage firm GFI Group Inc., would succeed outgoing Republican CFTC member Jill Sommers. Dynan, an economist at the Brookings Institution who previously spent 17 years as a researcher at the Federal Reserve, would succeed Janice Eberly at Treasury.
The White House announced the nominees, who will have to be confirmed by the Senate, on Aug. 1.
