New CEO at Whidbey Island Bank in Washington

Bryan McDonald will become president and chief executive of Whidbey Island Bank in Coupeville, Wash., on Jan. 1.

Jack Wagner will continue as president and CEO of the parent company, the $1.7 billion-asset Washington Banking Co. in Oak Harbor, Wash., and as a board member of the bank and holding company, according to a press release Tuesday.

McDonald, who entered banking in 1994, has worked for Peoples Bank of Lynden, Wash., and Washington Mutual Bank. He joined Whidbey as a commercial banking division manager in 2006 and has served as chief operations officer since April 2010.

Additionally, Whidbey announced promotions of three employees that also take effect Jan. 1. George Bowen will become executive vice president and chief banking officer; he will oversee retail and commercial customer-related business lines. Ed Eng is being promoted to executive vice president and chief administrative officer with responsibility over the bank’s backroom support functions and project management. Daniel Kuenzi will take over as executive vice president and chief credit officer.
