New Points System for Mobile Phones

A Las Vegas start-up is planning to offer mobile phone users a type of digital currency akin to reward points, through technology licensed from the Toronto vendor Corpro Corporate Promotions Inc.

CEO America Inc. said Wednesday that it has become the exclusive U.S. licensee of Corpro's Creditz digital currency, which can be used on any mobile device that can access the Internet. Users earn Creditz much like they earn rewards points on a credit card, by shopping at participating retailers.

The digital currency is credited to their account and can be used to make purchases at participating retailers with a Creditz account card or transferred to other users through CEO America's person-to-person payment system, which is expected to go live next month.

The service will be available initially in the United States and Canada, and CEO America expects to expand it into the United Kingdom, South America, Russia, and Africa next year.
