Bank of Taiwan, the island's largest bank, has agreed to use core banking software from SunGard Data Systems Inc. of Wayne, Pa.
SunGard said Monday that the Taipei City bank will use its System Access Symbols software to get a comprehensive view of its offshore operations.
"System Access Symbols will help us see a complete picture of the profitability of our offshore banking businesses," Edwin S.S. Song, a senior vice president at Bank of Taiwan and the general manager of its information technology department, said in a SunGard press release.
The $80 billion-asset bank has 170 branches in Taiwan, as well as branches in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, London, New York, Los Angeles, and Johannesburg.
