Regulators Discuss CFPB Staff Shifts

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner met with regulators Thursday to discuss shifting staff from financial agencies to the newly forming Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

In a meeting lasting less than an hour, Treasury officials and regulators agreed to appoint liaisons from the staffs to help the Treasury's implementation team.

The Treasury has from 12 to 18 months to establish the bureau. Until a director is appointed, Geithner will act as interim director.
