Verint Revamps Video Surveillance

New enhancements to a video surveillance system by software company Verint (VRNT) aim to help banks crack down on fraud and criminal activity.

Updates to the Nextiva EdgeVR system include license plate recognition and facial recognition features, according to a Verint press release distributed Thursday. The company has also added surveillance analytics that alert users to loitering and other suspicious activities.

Verint further touted the system's newly added remote access tool, accessible from Apple iOs devices. It allows security personnel to view live and recorded video from multiple cameras simultaneously.

"The security and safety risks that banks face have never been more prevalent, and fraud of every kind continues to grow," Steve Weller, senior vice president and general manager, Verint Video and Situation Intelligence Solutions, said in the release. "The recent enhancements to our Nextiva EdgeVR solution are designed to make video data immediately digestible."

The latest version of Nextiva EdgeVR is expected to be available this month.
