Guangdong-based Unitoll Card Co. Inc., an issuer of transit cards used to pay highway tolls, and China Construction Bank have launched a China UnionPay toll-payment credit card, Unitoll announced Wednesday. "The card integrates the normal credit card function with a toll-payment feature for speedways in the Guangdong province," an Unitoll spokesperson tells CardLine Global. Users swipe the card at a machine to pay the toll, the spokesperson says. Existing Unitoll customers use a prepaid card to pay tolls, the spokesperson says. The company has issued 300,000 prepaid cards in the province, according to the spokesperson. Unitoll will wave the monthly HK$15 (US$1.92 or 1.23 euros) fee for the first six months, the company says in a statement. "Cardholders will not get any discounts on toll fees, but they can redeem their reward points for fuel and will get discounts on car insurance," the spokesperson says.
