I'll be the first to admit that the CardForum Web site for SourceMedia's Payments Group, of which Cards&Payments is a part, does little to help subscribers to our publications. I'd call it more of a marketing tool to sell products than an information resource for the industry.
All of that will change, however, with the launch of PaymentsSource.com. The new Web site will incorporate all of SourceMedia's vast resources of survey data and coverage of the payments industry from the company's publications into one location. Subscribers also will be able to create their own, customized home pages specific to the payments sector and information type they are most interested in monitoring, including Credit Cards, Debit Cards, Processors, Networks, Merchant Acquirers and Collections. The home page also will enable subscribers to PaymentsSource to track specific individuals and companies and to be notified when their profile information changes.
Another benefit is the speed with which subscribers will be able to see magazine articles, which will be posted often weeks before they appear in print.
Paymentssource.com, which is in the beta-testing phase, officially launches later this summer.
Besides being able to read published articles and breaking news, subscribers also will be able to conduct searches going back more than five years. Moreover, the site will include expanded data and rankings from the Card Industry Directory, which provides detailed information about specific debit and credit card issuers, ATM owners, merchant and issuer processors, and other companies.
To support this new business tool, we have created a data group led by two veteran information specialists from Bank of America Corp. The team, which includes our editorial staff, sifts through the vast amount of information we receive daily. It also combs through filings from a variety of sources and fields proprietary surveys to expand on the data already contained in the site.
PaymentsSource.com contains data pertaining to more than 6,900 companies and their executives, including business managers.
