More than 450 C&A Mode KG fashion-retail stores in Germany plan to deploy 2,700 Hypercom Corp. Artema Hybrid point-of-sale terminals, Hypercom announced Dec. 6.
From a single card swipe, the devices can detect whether a consumer is initiating a transaction with a chip card or a magnetic stripe card, Hypercom says. This technology can help reduce confusion because a cashier does not have to determine which payment technology the card support, Hypercom says. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Montrada GmbH, a payment-services company based in Germany, is installing the devices and should finish the process “shortly,” Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Hypercom says.
Hypercom also announced that its SmartPayments Wynid service, which retailers use to manage their transactions, complies with the PCI Security Standards Council Data Security Standard. Hypercom says more than 120,000 point-of-sale devices connect to its Wynid service.
Separately, VisaNet Peru will replace approximately 9,000 Ingenico PINPad i3070 devices with the company’s recently launched PINPad iPP320 device, France-based Ingenico S.A. announced Dec. 3.
Ingenico stopped production of the i3070 devices this summer, the company says.
