Direct Response Forum Inc., a non-profit organization of direct-response marketers, conducted the online survey of 420 payments executives attending the organization’s annual meeting in Memphis in August.

Among respondents reporting their top concern related to card-not-present transactions, 57% cited interchange fees, 42% said charge-back rules and 37% noted compliance with the Payment Card Industry data-security standards.

Some 60% of merchants participating in the survey said payment programs were “extremely” important to their business, and 38% said payment programs were “somewhat” important.

Direct Response Forum board members include executives from Expedia Inc., L.L. Bean Inc., Affinion Group and Vegas.com.
