Succession planning

Richard Gold has held a variety of top jobs at the Buffalo, New York, bank during a three decade-plus career. Planning is underway to appoint his successor.

Benson Porter will conclude more than 10 years at the helm of BECU, the fourth-largest credit union in the country.

Edwin L. Williams, who has been at the helm since 1997, will step down as president and chief executive at the end of the year.

Linda White, who has led Upward for more than 24 years, will step down Sept. 1.

Seiffert, who succeeded longtime CEO William Wagner, orchestrated the company’s entry into Indiana and the sale of its insurance unit. Northwest reported a record $161.9 million profit in 2021.

Tansley Stearns will succeed the organization's longtime chief executive Bill Lawton in June.

Richard Helber stepped down after 12 years as Tropical's chief executive. He will hold an advisory position through the end of the year.

Viktoria Earle, who has been with the credit union since 2013, will take over for Craig Weber in May.

Spence, who joined the Cincinnati bank in 2015, will succeed Greg Carmichael as chief executive in July. He says he’ll maintain the company’s current strategic priorities, including regional expansion and digital transformation.

The bank plans to separate the two roles “upon the next CEO transition,” it said in a proxy statement Monday.
