Citibank India says it has begun to offer the chip-based Citibank Commercial credit card. The bank will issue the cards with both Visa Inc. and MasterCard Worldwide brands, a bank spokesperson tells CardLine Global. Citibank says cardholders can access a account management software that enables reconciliation of spending data directly into a company's expense-management system. Citibank says it issues similar cards to more than 3,000 companies in 45 countries. Citibank has issued more than 3.8 million credit cards in India, the spokesperson says.

Bangladesh Bank, the country's central bank, this week released a directive that gives the country's financial institutions permission to issue internationally branded debit, credit and prepaid cards to consumers making foreign-currency transactions. The directive applies to such cardholders as government officials, businessmen and Muslim pilgrims traveling abroad, the bank says. The directive also would enable some consumers to pay mobile phone bills with internationally branded cards.
