BURNSVILLE, Minn.-In an effort to boost morale, US FCU "went bananas" for its employees - literally.

DEWITT, N.Y.-NPG FCU has changed its named FocalPoint FCU. Founded in 1957 to serve employees of the New Process Gear manufacturing plant here, the CU has expanded to about 100 SEGs. It serves approximately 9,000 members.

Binghamton, N.Y.-GHS FCU has adopted a new look as part of its effort to reach out to a broader range of members. GHS FCU was chartered in 1940 and currently has assets of $116 million and more than 15,000 members.

CHALRLESTON, W.V. — The $25-million WV United FCU is the first financial in the U.S. to offer an iPhone remote deposit application-and the CU created the program in-house.

DENVER-Credit unions in Colorado have launched a food drive to benefit local food banks. The Credit Union Association of Colorado reported that 15 different credit unions are collecting canned goods, non-perishable food items, and monetary donations at their respective branch locations. These items will be allocated to food banks around the state to help fill the shelves in the Denver metro area, Canon City, Colorado Springs, Ft. Collins, Grand Junction, Greeley, Loveland, Meeker, and Pueblo. According to the Food Bank of the Rockies, 12% of Colorado families are concerned about access to food - many are unsure where they will find their next meal.

MATTESON, Ill.-Recognizing how the economy is limiting parents' ability to pay for their kids' college tuition, USA One Credit Union is supporting a local education foundation. Throughout June, the $36-million CU will pass the $10 new member fee paid by parents and guardians of Crete-Monee District 201U students back to Dollars For Scholars to help fund college scholarships for district students. The Crete-Monee District 201U Education Foundation's goal is to provide $1,000 in scholarship funds to students this year.

HARAHAN, La.-Four CU professionals in the Bayou State have been awarded scholarships to the Southeast CUNA Management School; Tami Beck, VP-lending at Lafayette Schools' FCU, Jean Helmer of New Orleans Firemen's FCU, Cindy Beauregard of Heart of Louisiana FCU and Brian Leger also with Lafayette Schools FCU. Beck was given the Edgar L. Fontaine Memorial Scholarship that pays full tuition at the school for one year and 50% for the next two years, while the other three scholarship winners will receive $500 towards tuition for this year only.

LINTHICUM, Md.-SECU President/CEO Rod Staatz received the Judith Burgin Professional of the Year Award, which recognizes local, regional and national CU leaders for their contributions to the movement and achieving effective and efficient results at their institutions.

HONOLULU-Former Hawaii Credit Union League chairman Paul Francis White, Sr., has died at the age of 87. White was a US Army Air Corp veteran and a pilot/instructor with Hawaiian Airlines for 35 years and served as HCUL chairman from 1956-1957 and again in 1960. He is also a past president of Hawaiian Airlines FCU.
