National Bank Holdings (NBHC) in Greenwood Village, Colo., counts Paul Singer among its high-profile investors.
Elliott Management, a firm controlled by the billionaire hedge fund manager, reported in a regulatory filing last week that it owns roughly 3.8 million shares of the $5.4 billion-asset company's stock. The filing marks the firm's first disclosure of the stake since National Bank went public in September.
The stake makes Elliot, which has roughly $21 billion in assets, one of National Bank's biggest shareholders, along with Wellington Management, an investment advisor, and Paulson & Co., a hedge fund.
A spokesman for Elliott declined to comment. A National Bank representative did not did not respond immediately to a request for comment.
Earnings at National Bank, which has roughly 100 branches in four states, rose 22% in the fourth quarter from a year earlier, to $3 million.
