Fifth Third Bancorp to Add 200 Tech Jobs This Year

Fifth Third Bancorp plans to hire about 200 technology professionals this year, amid a focus on mobile and digital banking.

The $141 billion-asset Cincinnati company has already hired 80 tech workers this year as part of the effort. By year's end, Fifth Third intends to hire at least 120 more, giving the company about 1,060 employees in its information-technology division, a spokeswoman said.

Fifth Third is hiring in several job categories for the newly created positions, including developers, business systems analysts and project managers.

The new hires will be tasked with everything from "improving our mobile app to improving our back-end operations," Sid Deloatch, chief information officer, said in a news release.

Fifth Third's new chief executive, Greg Carmichael, is behind the hiring push. Carmichael was previously Fifth Third's chief information officer.

Fifth Third's hiring plans were reported earlier by the Cincinnati Enquirer.
