A Day in the Life of Credit Unions

Twenty-two years ago this week, Elton John's "Candle in the Wind 1997" topped the charts and "I Know What You Did Last Summer" ruled the box office while "Cold Mountain" was climbing the New York Times bestseller list. At the same time, Credit Union Journal launched A Day in the Life of Credit Unions, a photo essay showcasing some of the work credit unions do day in and day out. Whether that's prepping the branch for the day or interacting with members or hosting dignitaries, for more than two decades this feature has run each year in conjunction with International Credit Union Day as a way to celebrate the magic of the credit union difference in action.

Badge of honor

Courtney Cross, VP of branch operations and property management at Dallas-based Credit Union of Texas, accepts an honorary badge from Anthony Henderson, chief of police at the Wylie Texas Police Department. Health & wellness

Addition Financial Credit Union representatives — including Stefanie Mizrahi, relationship manager, and Joel Martinez, association relationship manager, in the Lake Mary, Fla.-based Cu’s community engagement and partnerships division — took part in a health and wellness fair for employees at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Orlando International Airport.

A dog-gone good cause

The “surprise squad” from Kokomo, Ind.-based Solidary Community FCU visited the Kokomo Humane Society with a charitable donation and a variety of items from the shelter’s wish list. The CU also committed random acts of kindness by paying for meals for area consumers at local restaurants and coffee shops. Northwest FCU gets festive

Wendy Leewe, mortgage loan originator, and Danielle Washington, Herndon branch manager, represent Northwest Federal Credit Union at the annual Herndon Festival. The credit union goes out into the community each day to participate in local events, work with community partners or help boost brand awareness.
