Consumers visit an ATM at least once a month, TD Bank says

More than half of consumers visit an ATM at least once a month, although men—and Baby Boomers—tend to get cash more often, according to a new survey from TD Bank.

Sixty-one percent visit an ATM at least once a month, and 70% of respondents withdraw $200 or less with each visit, TD bank said in a Jan. 25 press release. TD Bank conducted a survey of 1,000 U.S. consumers in November 2016.

Among Baby Boomers (adults born before 1964), 65% visit an ATM at least once a month. About one in three consumers visits an ATM monthly, and Generation X—adults born through 1981—visit most often, with 40% visiting an ATM at least once a month, the survey suggests.

Men visit ATMs more often than women, with 25% withdrawing cash at least once a week compared with only 17% of men.

Women are likely to take out less cash from an ATM, with 83% withdrawing less than $100, compared with 74% of men.

More than half, or 64% of survey respondents, also visit a bank branch once a month, TD Bank said in the release.

TD Bank recently took over 189 ATMs in Walgreens stores in the Miami and Tampa-St. Petersburg areas, boosting its ATM market share in Florida by 96%, TD Bank said in the release.
