FIS adds PCI compliance path for payfacs

FIS has partnered with ControlScan to give its growing number of payment facilitators’ “sub-merchants” a streamlined path to comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.

The move enables payfacs using Worldpay from FIS for processing to offer their sub-merchants a simplified approach to PCI DSS compliance via ControlScan’s platform, according to a Tuesday press release.

ControlScan’s platform offers methods to achieve PCI DSS compliance specific to the end merchant’s method of payment acceptance, the release said.

“Payment facilitators provide a valuable service within the payments chain, but there can be security-related risks inherent in that model,” said Nicole Jass, FIS’s senior vice president of product, merchant services, in the release.

“In recent years we’ve seen aggressive growth in the payment facilitation segment of the payments industry and we’re excited to partner with FIS to guide payment facilitators through a best-practices approach for maintaining their own compliance and security, as well as that of their sub-merchants,” said Matt Loos, ControlScan’s executive vice president of business development, in the release.
